I've been diagnosed with clinical depression. I am in my early thirties and determined to find a better way of living. I'm exploring mindfulness, the influence of exercise and food on my well-being. I'm single and I want to stay that way for while - until I'm strong enough to share again.

Time for another Daily-Do.
Let’s take some time to focus on our thoughts. I woke up in a terribly sad mood, and I didn’t realise what I was doing, but I was thinking about my ex (actually, my last three exes, one of whom stalked me for about a year) and how it was my fault that I ever let them get so close, how it was my fault that I didn’t recognise how wrong they were for me, that it was my fault that they didn’t really love me…. When all of a sudden I realised I was having all these very unhelpful thoughts (because even if it is my fault, I already learned that lesson, and I don’t need to relive the pain again and again - I can’t change anything about it anymore) I focused on thinking of something else: me, who I am, and where I want to go in life.

So my Daily-Do for you today is to take five minutes to sit still and just let your mind wander, but observe where your mind takes you. If it takes you to a nasty place, look at it, and turn around and go somewhere else. Like daydreaming, but only letting in helpful thoughts, and not all the negative bullshit. It does not get us anywhere :D.
Your the only one who can make your mind a happy place to be in.

Thanks again for all your nice posts here, Tumblr. I’m probably going to see my doctor somewhere this week. Let’s hope it sets in motion the road to a better life :)
Anonymous asked: Consider acupuncture for depression. I have clients who have found that it helps like nothing else. There are some low cost clinics all over the US that charge on a sliding scale of $20-$40 per visit, no insurance needed. http://www.communityacupuncturenetwork.org/clinics
Thanks, I might look into it. I am starting to be more and more interested in Eastern medicine.
I found a website that has some interesting exercises to boost your self-esteem.
So I picked one for you to do today. Please let me know about your experiences.

“Self Esteem Exercise No. 2.
This next self esteem exercise may also seem a little strange until you try it.
You have to do this out outside, and preferable somewhere where you have an unrestricted view away into the distance.
Again, this exercise needs to be continued until you have a positive realization about yourself which will happen if you continue it long enough.
Go to a place where you feel comfortable and will not be disturbed, which has a good open panoramic view.
Look at something small.
Look at something big.
Look at something near.
Look at something far.
Look at something interesting.
That’s it. Now, when I say look I mean take a look at something and concentrate upon it for about 2 – 3 seconds and then do the same with the next part of the exercise.
You can look at different things each time or the same thing each time, that does not really matter, the thing that matters is that you do it enough times.
Enough times is the amount of times it takes for you to have a positive realization about yourself.
Don’t force it and don’t look for a realization, because if you do that then you are no longer doing the exercise. Just continue doing the exercise and the results will come totally unprompted.
Try this exercise, it is very subtle but very deep reaching.”
So, how did you go?

Do every exercise as much as you can, and as effectively, in the time given. Go through the routine twice. Take a one minute break between the routines, but never stop while you’re doing them, or it won’t be as effective:
- Jumping Jacks: 60 seconds
- Burbees: 60 seconds
- Bicycle Crunches: 60 seconds
- Jump Squats: 60 seconds
- Side Kicks: 60 seconds
- Mountain Climbers: 60 seconds
- Tricep Dips: 30 seconds
- Pushups: 30 seconds
- Plank: 60 seconds
